The coolest xmas gift!
My awesome parents got me this A3 led lightpad for christmas! I'm so excited about it! I've been wanting one for years and years and years. Now I can sketch as much as needed, and then easily transfer the sketch to a clean sheet of paper – without worrying about erased lines showing up through the charcoal or chalk. It's just perfect: completely thin, lightweigth and flat, without any edges that could crease the paper. And it's mine! My precious!

Sleeping Beauty - WIP
A new ink painting in progress. This time I'm doing the outlining first, using a waterproof UniPin fine line pen, size 0.05 on Fabrinano watercolour studio paper.

Lonely Road
Bwaahaa! I already finished this one! Well, ain't that a quickie on a monday evening? I'm never this fast... Maybe this is a technique I should use more often.
Dye inks and water... then some charcoal mixed with water... But then I had to add more defined outlines with a pen. Lots of fun making this one.

Having fun with inks
Preparations for Christmas will have to wait. I'd rather spend time with my pens and pencils these days. I have several works half done, but that's fine. Some of them will never be completed – they'll end up in the trash after laying around for some time.
Today I'm playing with some ink and water. My plan is to add some charcoal too... Very exciting :-D

My hands will never be pretty...
New work in progress. It was supposed to be a soft and bright pencil drawing, but something happened... I'll never have pretty hands. Always messy with charcoal, chalks, cuts, paint or ink. It gets into my skin and under my nails.

Undressed Woman - Graphite
My first graphite pencil drawing for ages. Really. It's been years and years... I usually work with charcoal, and I think I will continue with that. But I like the control the graphite gives me with details. Guess I messed up when I chose this really textured paper. It didn't work well with the soft pencils 5B, 6B and 7B.
I will try graphite for a couple more drawings, but then with a more smooth paper. But I do love this toned paper!

New WIP - 3 december.
New work in progress. Right now I can't decide on what medium to use. I might use pencil only on this one - something I haven't done in years. But then – I do love my charcoal.

Sitting nude
Just a sitting nude. No fuzz. Found the reference image online, but forgot to save both the image and the name of photographer. I don't really think the resemblance is any good anyway. That's rarely the point of using reference photos. I just need ideas and correct anatomy.
Charcoal pencils and vine charcoal on paper.

White isn't just white anymore II
Visited my new favorite store in Bergen last week, and got myself one of
these sketch books. Yeah, I know, I own at least 20 sketch books, but
this one was oh so cool. 24 pages, 3 assorted whites. Paper isn't just
paper. White isn't just white. I loooove the warm feel of these papers.
They are so pretty with my chalks. And speaking of chalks, I only own a
few colors. I need more!
White isn't just white anymore...
Close to two weeks with pneumonia, has driven me up the walls with
boredom, and I finally got to clean up my space. Found a lot of
equipment I'd forgot about.... I need to do more drawing. I need to do
more blogging... Sorry about my laziness, folks! Things will get better
now. I have more time in the winter.

WIP "Daphne"
Work in progress. This is just a sketch. I might do something with it some day. I love the story of Daphne and Apollo.
Pen, markers and colored pencils on paper.
...Seeing
that Apollo was bound to catch her, she called upon her father, "Help
me, Peneus! Open the earth to enclose me, or change my form, which has
brought me into this danger!" Suddenly, her skin turned into bark, her
hair became leaves, and her arms were transformed into branches...

Music of the heart - WIP
Music of the heart - Work in progress.
Title is just a working title... I think.
Again, hair thin pen. Copic Multiliner 0.03.
Best pen ever!
Hahaha... This drawing will probably never be completed! It just grows bigger...

Got my own drawing "Anna" framed for a change! The larger one. (The small ones are woodcuts by Niclas Gulbrandsen. Love them!)

Music of the heart - preparation
Preparing for a larger project. I have the drawing in my head, but I need reference images. I'm so happy for google. How on earth did artists ever manage without it?
Ready to move in. Armed with ink:

WIP - Self Portrait
Self portrait - work in progress.
Most of the shadows were built up with tiny dots of ink.
Using Copic Multiliner 0.1 and 0.03.
0.03 is really, really thin. The lines are thin like hair. I love these pens!
This was a mixed media project. The face and the necklace was a black and white photo, but I dotted the shadows with a pen on these too. All coloring was later done by hand. You can see the finished project in another blog post.
I love to listen to music and enjoy a glass of wine while drawing! :-)
